There's no shortage of things to do in this beautiful part of the country. Spend weekends exploring the local area via the spectacular Granite Way cycle path, Dartmoor railway, or on foot. In and around Okehampton you'll find the attractive gardens and great play areas at Simmons Park; the castle ruins are also well worth a look, as is popular Roadford Lake country park a short drive away. On rainy days you could soak up some local history at the Museum of Dartmoor Life, or enjoy hours of fun at the local cinema, leisure centre, swimming pool and escape room.
Okehampton is home to a great range of schooling options. There are several nurseries, a primary school, and secondary school and college rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. Further educational facilities include a forest school and adult learning centre. Fatherford Way is set close to the A30, which provides direct access to Exeter and with its mainline rail, airport and M5 motorway connections. You can also catch a train from Okehampton's own train station – part of the Dartmoor line, it operates services to Crediton (with connections to Barnstaple) and Exeter. The nearby A386 means you can also drive down to Plymouth and its ferry port in an hour
