Culture and cathedrals

The town has a thriving cultural scene, and is home to a museum, art gallery and several theatres – and of course its local professional football club, Blackburn Rovers.

A lesser-known treasure, Blackburn Cathedral is also well worth a visit, with its display of modern art and history.

Well connected

The best of the North’s countryside and city life is easily accessed with the town’s excellent rail and road networks.

For travel by rail, you have two train stations to choose from. And by road, the M65 motorway connects you to the main road networks quickly. For international flights, Manchester Airport is just over an hour by car.

School days

The town has an excellent range of primary and secondary schools, including the ‘Outstanding’ (rated by Ofsted) Pleckgate High School.

For higher education opportunities, the University of Central Lancashire is based in Preston, and you have the university cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds nearby too.
