Culture and attractions
From the Madchester and Indie music scenes, which have launched the careers of countless famous bands, to the city’s designation as a UNESCO City of Literature, the city is bursting at the seams with cultural attractions. Football matches at Old Trafford or Etihad Stadiums, live music, performing arts, events, festivals like the Parklife festival and the International Festival, museums and nightlife will provide you with endless things to do and enjoy from your new Persimmon home.
The makeup of the city has a part to play in inspiring its culture. Albert Square and Piccadilly Gardens are key focal points, and each neighbourhood offers something different. The independent Northern Quarter, picturesque Castlefield area and vibrant Village all offer something different, and combine to make Manchester an exciting and interesting place to live.
Shop til you drop
With a new home in Manchester, you can shop ‘til you drop. There’s a huge variety of shops available in the city, from the practical like supermarkets, banks and pharmacies, to the outright quirky.
The Manchester Arndale is the biggest inner-city shopping centre in the country with over 200 stores and services encompassing designer and high street brands and beyond. If you’re looking for independent shopping, you’ll find plenty of inspiration walking around the Northern Quarter, and no trip would be complete without a visit to Afflecks, an emporium of hugely varied boutiques and traders.

Manchester is a rail hub with direct connections to many places around the UK. London and Birmingham can be reached in just over 2 hours, Oxford, Bristol and Edinburgh in around 3 hours, and Liverpool in less than 40 minutes.
