Transport links

Uxbridge really is a case of planes, trains and automobiles. Heathrow Airport is 6 miles to the south and you can use the A4020 as an alternative to the M25.  Uxbridge train station is in Zone 6 of the London Underground, with trains into central London taking an average of 45 minutes. The M40 is right on the edge of town, taking you west into Oxfordshire and on up to Birmingham. The M25, M3 and M4 are all on the doorstep. All in all, this is a great location wherever your journey needs to take you.

Living in Uxbridge

There’s a good central focus and community feel in Uxbridge. With a large part of the centre pedestrianised, a wide range of shops, two shopping centres – the Pavilions and the Chimes –  places to eat out, and the headquarters of some major companies based here, the town has balanced its residential and commercial roles. Brunel University and Buckinghamshire New University have homes here too, adding a vibrant student population to the demographics. The Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex includes an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, an athletic track and a large multi-sports facility. School life is well balanced too, with Uxbridge High School and Bishopshalt School, both with academy status, providing secondary education. Bishopshalt School specialises in music and the performing arts.

Outside space

You can head west out of Uxbridge and be in the Colne Valley Regional Park or Langley Park in no time. For water sports, Liquid Leisure Windsor is a short drive away, and while you’re there, the Great Park at Windsor is a special place for a walk. Hop on the M40 and you’ll find yourself in the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for country walks and country pubs.
