Stortford Fields Information

Everything you need close to home

Living at Stortford Fields means that you'll have everything you need close to home. The town's attractive high street is filled with 16th and 17th century buildings which sit alongside the newer Jackson Square Shopping Centre. Fresh from a £5.5 million facelift, Jackson Square is full of high street names and coffee shops. Entertainment is covered too as there's a cinema, health club, bowling alley and the Rhodes Arts Complex - a large live music and contemporary arts venue and museum.

Lots to do outdoors

There's lots to do outdoors here as the surrounding area offers great parks and playgrounds, such as Sworder's Field, where there's plenty of space to kick a ball about, go for long walks and enjoy a splash in the popular spash-pool. The park is also home to a skateboard park (including a metal half-pipe) and for keep fit fans, a trim trail. The town council hosts a summer fun day at Sworder's Field with lots of fun for all the family. Castle Gardens, next to Sworder's Field, also provides plenty of open space, and a newly-built tennis court.

Quality schooling for all ages

There are several primary schools close to Stortford Fields; St Michael's CofE, St Joseph's Catholic, Hatfield Heath, Manuden and Manor Fields, are all well-known to the area. There are five secondary schools close-by, many of which have gained special college status; St Mary's Catholic School, Birchwood High School, Hockerill Anglo-European College, Bishops Stortford High School and The Herts & Essex High School.

You'll be well connected

Bishop's Stortford train station links the town to London Liverpool Street on the West Anglia mainline, operated by East Anglia trains. There are also regular trains to Cambridge, Stratford, Harlow and King's Lynn. There's also a useful service to London Stansted Airport.
