Midlands graduate kickstarts career with Persimmon
03 October 2023
A graduate in our Midlands team is celebrating her first few weeks with Persimmon, having joined us last month. Megan Scott graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2022 and will be taking part in multiple rotations on our graduate scheme.
Having studied for a BSc in Psychology, Megan decided that she wanted to throw herself into the world of work upon graduating. Megan had always had an interest in housebuilding, and found the latest developments in the industry fascinating. Working primarily within the Midlands team, Megan will now complete rotations in a range of departments - including land, site management and surveying.
Megan said: “The graduate scheme has been really enjoyable so far; I feel as though I have learned a lot already. We spent the first week at the Persimmon head office in York, which was a great introduction to the company and to the scheme. I’ve been in my region for two weeks now and am currently working within the land department. Everyone I’ve come across so far has been extremely helpful and supportive. At the moment, I’m looking into areas of strategic land that Persimmon could potentially develop on in the future. It’s great to be given some responsibility and to be involved in real projects so early on!”
As one of our graduates, Megan has access to a network of peers and mentors, the opportunity to attend a range of industry events and key meetings, and work with fellow graduates on a range of shared projects.
Megan added: “I was really attracted to the graduate scheme because of the rotational aspect of it. I’ve always had an interest in housebuilding, and I knew I would enjoy building a career within it, but I had no idea what area I wanted to go into. As someone with no experience within the industry, the fact that we would be able to try out variety of roles in various departments really appealed to me.”
