Building sustainable and energy efficient homes
Our new build homes emit 61% less carbon a year than older homes*, making them a more sustainable and energy-efficient choice. Find out how we’re working towards a more sustainable future, and helping you save money on energy bills.
A zero carbon future
At Persimmon, we're proud to build our homes to high levels of energy efficiency. We've made it our mission to have net-zero carbon homes in use by 2030, and for our own building operations to be net-zero by 2040.
To achieve this, we’re working to science-based carbon reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C warming pledge. We're investing in low-carbon solutions and technology to further reduce the carbon footprints of our homes and our impact on the planet.

Our sustainable homes come with a range of features designed with energy-efficiency in mind. These include:
- Highly efficient thermal insulation in the wall cavities and roof space
- Argon-filled double glazed windows keeping warmth in and minimising heat loss.
- Energy-efficient appliances and heating systems
This means the vast majority of our homes carry an EPC rating of either A or B.
...meaning you'll save money on bills.
One of the key benefits that comes with a more energy-efficient new build, is how much you’ll save on your energy bills. This is thanks to insulation and double glazing to reduce heat loss, along with reduced water use thanks to efficient appliances.
Recent research by the HBF found that the average new build house buyer saves £183 each month on energy bills, totalling an impressive annual saving of over £2,200*.

Discover enhanced energy efficiency with our Eco Range
As of June 2023, we're boosting the energy efficiency of our homes.
We build our Eco Range homes in line with new Part L regulations, resulting in a 31% reduction in carbon emissions due to eco-friendly features. These can include:**
- Solar panels to boost your existing energy-efficient boiler
- Enhanced loft insulation
- Panelised offsite-manufactured timber frame technology
- EV charging points
These innovative features mean an Eco Range house could save you £2,570 each year compared to an older home.*
Creating greener communities
Being sustainable goes beyond our houses. We choose our development locations with the environment in mind, putting you within reach of local amenities and public transport to help reduce your travel footprint.
We also create green open spaces for relaxation and play, shared facilities including neighbourhood allotments, and biodiverse habitats. Making our developments kind to the planet, whilst bringing communities together.
