Teesside

Famous as the birthplace of Captain Cook and for the first passenger railway, Teesside has made its mark on the world with industry and innovation. This small corner of the North East, sandwiched between County Durham and North Yorkshire has the river Tees winding its way through the stunningly beautiful landscapes.

Surrounded on all sides by the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North Pennines – and of course the North Sea – Teeside has a landscape for every type of pastime, from biking and hiking, through to sailing and golfing, with horseriding and dancing too.

Middlesbrough is the jewel in the crown of Teeside and offers a vibrant nightlife, world restaurants and even adds to the culinary wonders of the world with “chicken parmo” a local dish of breaded chicken breast in a cheese sauce. The area has also seen significant investment and regeneration, transforming the waterfront into a busy marina filled with bars and restaurants.

It's cobbled streets are a great place to shop, with the most exclusive brands, high street stores and some quirky independents. On market day, it’s also worth checking out Darlington or Guisborough for local produce and crafts – or head to Hartlepool Marina to enjoy delicious seafood and watch the world drift by.
