Monmouthshire
Looking for a new home in Monmouthshire?
Monmouthshire stretches high up above the River Severn, tracing the border with England to the west, along the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Forest of Dean. With the Brecon Beacons National Park to the northeast, this beautiful Welsh county - and your new home - has these famous landscapes at its door.
Landscapes and landmarks come hand in hand in the Welsh Borders and Monmouthshire has a grand total of 26 castles. Today it’s a bonus rather than a battle to cross into England and an easy choice between Cardiff and Bristol for city life.
Getting out and about is made easy. The M4 and South Wales mainline trains put Cardiff, Newport, and Bristol within easy commuting distance by road or rail. The A449 is the link from the motorway to the A40 – the main route right through the Brecon Beacons, via the lovely market towns of Abergavenny and Crickhowell, or into Gloucestershire and Herefordshire to the east. It’s not only a practical route connecting rural Wales and England, it’s panoramic too, with breath-taking scenery along the way.
