Living in Sherborne

Great road links on the doorstep

As one of the few counties in England without a motorway, Dorset is pleasantly secluded and peaceful. Should you ever tire of the day to day in your new build home, Sherborne is on the London Waterloo train line, so you can hop into Town in as little as two and a quarter hours. If you'd like to feel sand between your toes, Weymouth (25 miles) is only a 40 minute drive via the A352 to Dorchester (18 miles). The nearby A303 can take you down to Exeter (54 miles), or up to Basingstoke (76 miles), where it joins the M3.

A great choice of schools from home

Your new build in Sherborne is perfectly placed to enjoy excellent state schools including Sherborne Abbey CofE Primary School, Sherborne Primary School and the through-education, Harbour Vale School. The Gryphon School is a mixed secondary with 1500 pupils, while Sherborne also has three independent schools - Sherborne Preparatory School, Sherborne School for boys and Sherborne Girls.

Settling into your new home

You will never tire of waking up in your new home in Sherborne and walking to the town centre to browse the shops or to meet friends for a relaxed brunch. Explore the "new" Tudor castle, with its grade I listed garden, designed by Capability Brown, picnic on the wide lawns and enjoy the idyllic vistas of lush Dorset countryside. Or head to the "old" castle, a 12th century ruin, now a haven for wildlife and wild flowers. Day trips from your new house by train couldn’t be easier; it takes 40 minutes to get to Salisbury, two and a half hours to get to London, and just over an hour to get to Exeter.
