Living in Sherborne

Great road links on the doorstep

As one of the few counties in England without a motorway, Dorset is pleasantly secluded and peaceful. The town is on the London Waterloo train line, so you can hop into Town in as little as two and a quarter hours. If you'd like to feel sand between your toes, Weymouth (25 miles) is only a 40 minute drive via the A352 to Dorchester (18 miles). The nearby A303 can take you down to Exeter (54 miles), or up to Basingstoke (76 miles), where it joins the M3.

A great choice of schools

Your family is perfectly placed to enjoy excellent state schools including Sherborne Abbey CofE Primary School, Sherborne Primary School and the through-education, Harbour Vale School. The Gryphon School is a mixed secondary with 1500 pupils, it has three independent schools - Sherborne Preparatory School, and schools for both girls and boys.

Lush countryside and great walks

You will never tire of waking up in your new house and walking to the town centre to browse the shops or to meet friends for a relaxed brunch. Explore the "new" Tudor castle, with its grade I listed garden, designed by Capability Brown, picnic on the wide lawns and enjoy the idyllic vistas of lush Dorset countryside. Or head to the "old" castle, a 12th-century ruin, now a haven for wildlife and wildflowers.
