Living in Weymouth
Life by the sea
As a UNESCO world heritage site, your new home is a natural playground for everyone who loves hiking coastal paths or enjoying watersports. Walk along the main beach or watch the world go with fish & chips on the promenade. There are lovely walks around Nothe Fort and gardens, with panoramic views out to sea. Grab a picnic and head to Portland Bill's rocky coves, or take a trip to the much-loved beach at Preston and the beach at Ringstead.. Explore Maiden Castle, a huge iron-age hill fort between Weymouth and Dorchester or take a trip to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door - Dorset’s most famous landmarks.
Your place to enjoy the local wildlife
You have the Abbotsbury Swannery, the Sea Life Centre and RSPB Lodmoor within easy reach. East Fleet is a natural lagoon created by Chesil Bank that stretches all the way down to Abbotsbury. Children will love hunting for fossils along Chesil Beach too, an 18-mile-long pebbled stretch of the Jurassic Coast, just a short drive from your new build.
Great road links
Drive via the A354 to Dorchester (9 miles) and pick up the A35 - it will take you across the county from Honiton to Bournemouth (both 40 miles). The Heart of Wessex train line runs regular local services to Dorchester (8 minutes), and you can get a direct train to London (3 hours). Alternatively, leave your new house and take a Condor Ferry to France or the Channel Islands – Weymouth to St Malo crossings operate seven days a week, all year round.
