Local amenities
Malmesbury has a really friendly and welcoming feel. It’s large enough to have a good range of local shops and services, but small enough to have a genuine community spirit. Most of the local amenities are within walking distance of each other and quite apart from the eclectic mix of shops, the town centre is simply a lovely place to meet friends for a coffee. The abbey and the listed buildings around it give the town a great sense of history - it’s a hometown to be proud of.
Getting around
The M4 motorway and the A429 - the Cirencester road - are the key routes serving Malmesbury. South of the M4, the A350 connects with Chippenham before joining the A4 for Bath. Mainline train services can be picked up from Swindon which is 18 miles east and from there you have regular services to Reading and London Paddington.
Explore the area
Bath and Cirencester are the obvious places to visit for a day out. However, there are some other delights on hand for all the family to enjoy. Westonbirt is the National Arboretum - it’s a significant collection that is all the more topical these days.
