The village lies on the B1008, which leads directly south into Chelmsford (2.7 miles) and north to Braintree (9.1 miles). Less than 10 minutes from the village is junction 19 of the A12, which is a direct route into London and also to Colchester and Ipswich. For rail travel, Chelmsford station is less than 3 miles from Broomfield. It operates regular services to London Liverpool Street taking around 35 minutes. For journeys further afield, Stansted Airport is 16 miles away.
