Our community contributions
Every time we build in a new location, we commit to funding and supporting local infrastructure, so that you can get the most out of your new community.
What are Section 106 agreements?
Section 106 (s106) agreements are a set of agreements between a housing developer such as Persimmon, and a local planning authority. They ensure certain conditions are met to mitigate the impact of a development on the area.
Included alongside these agreements is a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which is a contribution so that local authorities can deliver the infrastructure needed to support a new development.
In 2023, our total contributions were £61.7 million*
Here's a look at what that includes...
£12.9 million towards education
In total we funded 504 school places in 2023, through contributing to the expansion of existing schools as well as creating new educational facilities.
£6.6 million towards public transport and active travel
It's important that you feel well-connected in your new home, with access to more sustainable public transport options.
£3 million towards leisure and sports
This includes brand new sports centres and facilities on a number of our developments, as well as improving existing local facilities.
£1 million towards highways and road infrastructure
We make improvements and additions to roads so you and those already living in your local area can get around with ease.
