Richard's Story
When a separation left Richard and his wife both in search of new homes, they found the ideal solution for their family with two new Persimmon homes on the same development. Richard explains how the Part Exchange scheme turned a complicated move into a stress-free experience.
A fresh start
After Richard Cundall and his wife Marta decided to go their separate ways in 2022, making a move necessary, they went through the disappointment of their house sale falling through three times – adding to the stress of an already difficult time. With experience of part exchanging homes before, however, they turned to Persimmon for help.
“My wife and I were separating, but were and still are very good friends,” says Richard.
“We approached Persimmon Homes to discuss the possibility of Part Exchanging our existing 4-bedroom property, in order to buy two new 2-bedroom homes at The Maples, a Persimmon development in Weston, close to where we lived.”

The ideal solution
With their 10-year-old daughter to consider, the two new homes needed to provide exactly what Richard and Marta needed.
“We wanted to remain relatively close in location, because our daughter could then move between the two houses relatively freely,” explains Richard.
In the end, it couldn’t have worked out better – the two homes are just a few doors down from each other on the same road, giving Richard, Marta, and most importantly their daughter, that much-needed flexibility.
From complex to stress-free
Although Richard and his wife were familiar with Part Exchange, having used the scheme to buy their previous home, this exchange of one large home for two smaller ones was rather unique.
“The sales office could not have been more helpful to us in a situation that was unusual in our circumstances,” Richard says. “The process, although technically complicated, was as stressless as a house move could have been.”
Using the Part Exchange scheme (through which Persimmon agree a price for your home, purchase it and then market and sell it for you), made the issue of timing much easier. Richard and Marta were able to stay in their previous home until the two new Persimmon homes were ready, and move on a day of their choosing.

A positive experience
Richard and Marta are now happily settled in their respective Persimmon homes, and with her parents just a stone’s throw apart, their daughter is able to spend quality time with them both whenever she likes.
