Living in Bedford you’ll be able to enjoy plentiful shops and amenities, with the friendly feel of a market town. The two weekly markets continue a long-standing and vital part of the town’s heritage, and for taking in a spot of culture in between shopping trips you could visit the museum, art gallery or cinema.

Enjoy nature

You’ll truly have the best of both worlds in Bedford – just minutes from the bustling town centre there are lovely areas of greenery for enjoying a walk, taking part in sports or just soaking up the sunshine. To the north of the town centre, Bedford Park is a scenic open space with a pond, café and fields for cricket and football. Or, walk down the High Street to reach the river, where you can walk along the leafy Embankment to Russell Park, a landscaped field and gardens with tennis courts. A little further along the river you can spend hours exploring the 300 acres of lakes and wildlife walks at Priory Country Park.

Fantastic transport links

Surrounded by the A6, A421 and A428, Bedford offers great road links to the surrounding area. Milton Keynes, Northampton, Cambridge and Luton can all be reached in well under an hour by road, while the nearby M1 puts the Midlands within easy reach too. Perhaps most enticingly, frequent services from Bedford train station take you to London St Pancras in just 41 minutes – ideal for commuters.

As well as many rail services the area is also well-served by bus routes, and the nearest airport is Luton, 22 miles away.
