Kirkintilloch
When the Romans made it this far north, they brought their roads with them! Kirkintilloch is well connected with road links to Glasgow, Loch Lomand, the east coast and the south. A volcanic hill where a Roman fort once stood is now known as Peel Park, occupying a lofty viewpoint over stunning countryside up to the Campsie Fells – a mecca for walkers and mountain bikers.
The town centre has shops, a medical centre, library, leisure centre and a great community spirit with residents actively engaging in local events and clubs.

Easy travels
The town is nine miles northeast of Glasgow and has two main routes into the city, one via the A803 and the other, slightly faster A806 joining the M80. From Glasgow you can take the M8 west and join the M77 down to the borders, or head east to Edinburgh (56 miles) or avoid Glasgow altogether and join the M80 north and then M9 west. Glasgow Airport is around 17 miles and Edinburgh Airport is 43 miles - both making it easy to catch regional and international flights. From your new house you can take the Lenzie to Glasgow train - it takes just 10 minutes into Glasgow Central and there are two trains an hour. Or take the X85 and X87 First Bus services also get you into the city.
Lots of great facilities
Moving to a new build gives you lots of shopping choices. Cowgate and Townhead are the main shopping areas, but there's also The Regent Centre a shopping mall with a huge choice of national brands and independent shops. You are also close to the local leisure centre at Woodhead Park, with two swimming pools, a fitness suite, outdoor football pitches, tennis courts, a sports hall and plenty of fun activities. The town has six primary schools and two secondary schools, The High School and St Ninian’s. Lenzie Academy is another local option for secondary education, in the catchment area for the southern parts of the town.
