New homes in Crewe

Crewe holds the keys for the gateway to the North West of England. It’s home to one of the UK’s major national railway hubs, it’s close to the M6 and it holds a key economic position in a county that brings the leafy Cheshire countryside to the metropolitan doorsteps of Merseyside and Greater Manchester. Crewe has got the historic city of Chester, the Welsh Borders and the Peak District National Park within easy reach, making it a strong contender as a place to live and a great base for a new home.

Living in Crewe

Road and rail

The M6 is Crewe’s fast north-south road option, though several important A routes meet around the town and link it with the rest of Cheshire, Staffordshire, Lancashire, Shropshire and North Wales. The A51 takes you northwest up to Chester, linking with the M53 and M56 for Ellesmere Port and the Wirral. The A534 heads due west to Wales via Wrexham and northeast to Congleton. The nearby A49 heads down to Shrewsbury. Crewe station is less than a mile from the town centre and is one of the largest stations in the North West, with 12 platforms and destinations across the whole country. There’s a direct fast service to London Euston taking about an hour and a half. It’s not all about road and rail though. Manchester Airport is 30 miles away and after that, Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport is 40 miles away. Last but not least, there are several bus operators offering routes and destinations throughout the area.

Town amenities

Crewe will keep you stocked with its two large shopping centres, a twice-weekly indoor and outdoor market and choice of independent shops, bars and restaurants. It’ll keep you entertained and active with its multiplex cinema, theatre, leisure centres, sports clubs and parks. It’ll keep your children occupied in term-time with a choice of secondary schools for 11 – 16-year-olds and at South Cheshire College for 16+ education. Manchester Metropolitan University’s Cheshire Faculty is based in the town and there’s also a University Technical College following on from the town’s automotive and railway engineering background.
