A popular suburb of a popular small city is a ‘win win’ situation for a new home here. Tuffley is on the southern outskirts of Gloucester, with an easy route into the centre for work and pleasure, and close to the M5 for an escape to the country. Tuffley has its own amenities, including schools, shops and a park, though with Gloucester city centre just 3 miles away, you’ve got everything you could want on hand there too.

Living in Tuffley
In addition to the local shops, you’ve got two libraries, a community centre, sports centre, two local pubs and a shopping centre. At the heart of Tuffley, Randwick Park is a great place for children to let off steam and for families to meet up. The Gloucester Golf Club and the Ski & Snowboard Centre are just to the east, on the other side of Robinswood Hill, where there are fantastic views of the city.
The A38 is the main road into Gloucester, it’s the old Bristol Road, though of course once you live here, you’ll find your own routes across town. Stagecoach West operates the town’s bus services, and from the Fox and Elm (one of your local pubs) for example, the average journey time into Gloucester city centre is 26 minutes. For travel further afield, the M5 couldn’t be more convenient. You can join it at Junction 11A or Junction 12. You’ll be about an hour’s drive from Bristol Airport.
Going to school
There are plenty of primary schools to choose from and for secondary education you’ve got Holmleigh Park High School, which has academy status. There are some different education options here too, for example the Wynstones Steiner Waldorf School at Whaddon. Students can also opt for T-Levels, and other courses, at Gloucester College of Further Education.
Out and about
There are some wonderful treats on your doorstep for a change of scenery. For riverside you’ve got the Severn Valley. For woodland you’ve got the Wye Valley. For upmarket shopping you’ve got Cheltenham and Stroud. For historic villages you’ve got the Cotswolds.
