Living in Tuffley

Living in a vibrant city

The cathedral city of Gloucester is packed full historic and cultural interest. The 500-year-old cathedral has borne witness to the burning of martyrs and the filming of Harry Potter. Your new home, Gloucester, has excellent shopping, contained on its helpfully named Northgate, Eastgate, Southgate and Westgate Streets - as well as the Gloucester Quays - a fabulous outlet shopping and dining experience and part of a £200m regeneration. Enjoy Gloucester Museum, packed with dinosaurs and Roman artefacts or head to the museum of the Jet Age, Beatrix Potter's Tailor of Gloucester Museum & Shop or the National Waterways Museum.

Sports fans will enjoy a visit to the Kingsholm Stadium, home of Gloucester Rugby. Alternatively, head out from your new build in Tuffley to the Ski and Snowboard Centre, enjoy some Go-Karting or climb or boulder at the climbing centre. If you enjoy your mountain biking and hiking, the Forest of Dean is just 16 miles to the South West.

Going to school near your new home

Families move to Tuffley to be in the catchment area of The Crypt School, offering outstanding secondary education for boys and girls. Just down the road, Ribston Hall High School, also a grammar school, offers single sex education for girls.

There are five state primary schools nearby, with both nursery school and faith options. Beyond Tuffley, there are independent schools including the Al-Ashraf junior and girls’ secondary school, Wotton House International School, Edward Jenner School and The King’s School – the latter three offering through education.

Travel from your new Tuffley house

Travelling from your new home in Tuffley couldn't be easier. The A38, which weaves its way down to Bristol, and up into the centre of Gloucester (3 miles) and junction 11A of the M5, makes commuting easy. If you'd like to join the M5, your new build in Tuffley is under five miles from both junction 11A in the north and junction 12 towards Stonehouse. One of the best kept secrets of the area is the Gloucester Services on the M5 - it's a farm shop where you can shop local, eat delicious meals and even walk your dog.

Aside from offering excellent refreshments, the M5 heads north towards Worcester (30 miles) and Birmingham (65 miles) and south towards Bristol (34 miles) and Bristol Airport - which is around an hour's drive. If you'd like to take the train, a connecting Stagecoach West bus service operates out of Tuffley, connecting your new home with services to Gloucester City Centre and Gloucester Railway station for London Paddington (2.5 hours) via Stroud, Swindon and Reading.
