There's world-class mountain biking and hiking on your doorstep, as well as the historic Tintern Abbey just a short drive away and the spectacle of the Severn Bore bringing visitors from around the world to see this tidal phenomenon. 

If you were born to shop, your new build in Lydney is close to plenty of curios - or head to the regency town of Cheltenham with its designer boutiques, cavernous arcades and Michelin starred dining. Bristol (26 miles) and Cardiff (39 miles) have big brand name shopping, sports events, art galleries and museums galore!

Your new build home in Lydney has three primary schools to choose from: Lydney CofE Community School, Severnbanks Primary School and Aylburton CofE Primary School. The Dean Academy is the local mixed secondary school, while Belong School Gloucestershire offers SEN education for older pupils. 

Shopping close to your new home

Lydney has got a great range of local shops to choose from, and there’s a superstore supermarket as well as a couple of convenience stores.  From your new build, you can head north to Coleford or Gloucester for a greater selection of high street shopping, or down to Chepstow. If you want to combine a designer shopping trip with eating out, and leisure, the Gloucester Quays outlet is on the Lydney side of town.

Commuting from your new build

Buying a new property in Lydney gives you access to the A48 which can speed you to Gloucester (20 miles) and Worcester (47 miles) to the north. Or head south down the A48 to Chepstow (9 miles) and onto the M4 to Bristol (27 miles). From your new home in Lydney you can head west into Wales, with Newport (27 miles) and Cardiff (37 miles) being eminently commutable. Want to visit Sharpness (2 miles) over on the east bank of the Severn? That's a 33 mile round trip by car and will take nearly an hour!

Lydney has the convenience of a train station on the Newport to Gloucester line, with trains to Gloucester taking a scenic 20 minutes. Bristol is the nearest international airport, taking about an hour to drive. If you'd rather take the bus, Stagecoach West 23 bus route goes through Lydney, taking about an hour to Gloucester.
