Another boost for hospitals charity thanks to housebuilder
17 February 2026
One of the builders behind the major Valley Park development in Didcot has donated £1,000 for the second time in less than a year to the Oxford Hospitals Charity.
Persimmon Homes Wessex handed over the cheque to the John Radcliffe Hospital-based charity at the development’s Charles Church outlet.
Oxford Hospitals Charity helps to transform care through funding the best medical equipment, research, training, and facilities for its patients and staff. Donations have helped create the Cancer and Heart Centres in Oxford and the Brodey Cancer Centre at the Horton General, as well as the Oxford Children's Hospital.
The charity has a wide and diverse footprint, from small projects like providing quality reclining chairs for cancer patients having lengthy chemotherapy to larger ones such as funding computerised surgical equipment to help talented surgeons with complicated of operations.
Once complete, Valley Park will provide 4,254 homes, two primary schools, a SEN school, local centres, and sports facilities – creating a sustainable, well-connected community for the Oxfordshire town.
All Persimmon properties – including the homes awarded to registered housing providers – will be equipped with sustainable features including air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points, and solar panels.
The accredited five-star housebuilder currently has homes available to purchase on the open market at Valley Park, available from £216,995. Its sister company, Charles Church, also has premium homes for sale on its outlet from £384,995.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes Wessex Sales Director Pauline Fletcher said:
“With so many of customers either working or making use of hospitals in Oxfordshire, especially John Radcliffe Hospital, it just felt right to support Oxford Hospitals Charity more than once, and we were pleased to be able to do this at our popular Valley Park site in Didcot.
“Persimmon does not just leave a positive and lasting legacy where it builds through Community Champions donations – it also supports key workers such as those in the NHS through tailored discount schemes. We hope they make the most of the opportunities.”
Laura King, Head of Fundraising at Oxford Hospitals Charity said:
“It was a delightful surprise to have been chosen by Persimmon as a worthy winner of Community Champions funding the first time around – for it to happen again is very fortunate.
“We’d like to thank Persimmon for once again thinking of us. They can rest easy in the knowledge this funding will go towards important projects helping both staff and patients alike.”
