Bradford College Welcomes Two Houses Worth of Bricks
16 January 2026
Construction students at Bradford College have taken receipt of 18,000 bricks from Persimmon Homes.
Bradford Council Leader Susan Hinchcliffe recently joined students and teachers at the college to welcome the donation – enough to build two 3-bedroom semi-detached houses.
The donation from the housebuilder’s own in-house brick factory will be used to support the training of apprentices, full-time students and adult learners at the college.
Representatives from Persimmon joined Councillor Hinchcliffe to meet some of the learners who will be honing their skills using the new materials.
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council said: It’s great to see Bradford College and Persimmon Homes working so well in partnership. It’s only by our schools and colleges working closely with the private sector that we’ll be able to make sure our young people get the experience they need to be work-ready.”
Greg Bourke, Head of Construction at Bradford College, said: “Strong, proactive employer engagement is essential to building meaningful partnerships that truly benefit our students. We were delighted to welcome back Councillor Hinchcliffe and Persimmon to showcase the progress our learners are making.
“This generous donation demonstrates a shared commitment to creating opportunities and working together to transform lives. We look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration.”
Christopher Hull, Managing Director of Persimmon West Yorkshire said: “It was a pleasure to meet with staff and pupils at Bradford College and meet the next generation of construction workers.
“We are only too happy to be able to support the college in helping learners and apprentices hone their skills as they learn and we hope these materials help do that.”
