Brownfield site secured in latest land acquisition in Surrey
17 September 2025
We are delighted to have acquired a brownfield site in Surrey, with full planning consent, from Homes England.
The former Mitie offices in Sturt Road, Frimley will be demolished to make way for 157 new homes with a Victorian pump house converted to create three further homes. The development will include 15 homes for Discounted Market Sale, to help meet housing need locally.
The site is located just five miles from our Thames Valley head office in Camberley, Surrey and close to Frimley Lodge Park, which offers valuable community amenities including a play area, miniature railway, coffee shop and sports pitches.
Dan Castle, Managing Director of Persimmon Thames Valley, said:
“We are delighted to have been able to work with Homes England to complete this acquisition and secure this key site.
“This will rejuvenate this brownfield site and bring it back into use, creating much-needed new homes for Frimley. The site benefits from full planning permission and that will allow us to move forward with our development imminently.”
Simon Herring, Development Director at Homes England, said:
“As the Government’s housing and regeneration agency we want to support partners in the public and private sector to unlock strategic housing sites, particularly where brownfield, infrastructure or land projects face delivery challenges.
“Sturt Road is a prime example of this collaborative approach. The Agency has worked closely with Persimmon Homes to support the sale of the former Mitie offices, paving the way for 160 much-needed new homes.”
The new development will be named Cobbetts Place in honour of Victorian cricketer called James Cobbett, who was born in Frimley.
Demolition of the buildings has now commenced with work starting on the new homes early in 2026.
