Community donation funds the sustainable future of local village hall in Newbold Verdon

Persimmon Homes North Midlands has donated £5000 to St James Newbold Verdon Village Hall in Leicestershire through its Community Champions scheme.

The funding will support the installation of an eco-friendly heating system at the village hall, helping to replace its condemned heating system before winter. This will ensure the hall can remain open and continue providing vital services, activities and support for the local community.

Persimmon Homes’ donation reflects its commitment to supporting the communities where it builds. In Newbold Verdon, the housebuilder is delivering its Brascote Park development, creating a mixture of 239 new homes with public open space and major investment in local infrastructure.

The donation was presented to the village hall by Councillor Joyce Crooks, Ward Councillor for Newbold Verdon with Desford & Peckleton, alongside Gillian Hunter, Sales Advisor at Persimmon Homes North Midlands.

Councillor Joyce Crooks, Ward Councillor for Newbold Verdon with Desford and Peckleton, commented: “I am delighted that Persimmon Homes has made a donation to our Church Hall. The hall is an important facility for our village community, as well as hosting a range of church functions, and this generous contribution will help towards the ongoing improvements and maintenance of the building.

Our hall is at the heart of the local community, providing a home for a wide range of activities and services, including our community café, foodbank, children’s groups, loneliness workshops, forest church, soup kitchen and dance classes. This donation will help us keep these vital services running and ensure the hall remains a welcoming and valuable space for everyone in the surrounding area.”
