Devon cancer charity nets donation
14 June 2026
Our South West region has met the costs of netball tournament in Exeter that is raising funds for a countywide cancer charity.
We've donated £1,700 to a tournament being hosted by Honiton Netball League in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity, presenting the cheque at its Ashworth Place development in Tithebarn on the outskirts of Exeter. The financial boost means that all funds raised by the tournament will go straight to the charity.
The Pivot Charity Netball Tournament is being held at 9:30am-2pm on Sunday 5th July at Exeter University. Ladies’ teams will be competing against each other after a successful contest last year where £1,500 was raised for the city’s Hospiscare organisation.
We donate £700,000 each to year to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain. Recent local recipients include South West Blood Bikes, Broadclyst Parish Council, Bowhill Primary School, and Newcourt Community Centre.
The south west region is based in Exeter and has popular sites nearby – two, three, and four-bed properties are available at Ashworth Place and Cherrywood Grange, Persimmon’s outlets at Tithebarn, from £249,995.
Persimmon Homes South West Sales Director Stacey Harris said “As a proud Exeter housebuilder, Persimmon obviously wants to support our local charities, and FORCE Cancer Charity is one that does great work across Devon.
“We are delighted, therefore, to be backing Honiton Netball League’s efforts to raise funds for them and commend all those involved in the tournament. Best of luck to the teams as they compete for glory next month.”
Kirsty Crowe – from Honiton Netball League – added “We wish to thank Persimmon homes for their generous donation. Their support has ensured that all tournament costs have been met allowing every penny to be donated directly to FORCE Cancer Charity.
“This contribution has made a meaningful difference and helped maximise the impact of our fundraising efforts for those affected by cancer in our community. This is our third year running the tournament and it’s going from strength to strength with 16 teams involved this year.”
Ceri Bastyan – Fundraising Officer for FORCE Cancer Charity – commented “We were so pleased to receive this kind donation, made by Persimmon via the Honiton Netball League. It is so important, more now than ever, to support charities in your local community.
“With the need for our services rapidly rising, donations such as these ensure that we can keep supporting people and their families when they need it most, here in the heart of Devon. An extended thanks to Kirsty and the whole team, for choosing to support FORCE at this event.”
