Former power station site set for new chapter in Rugeley

A long-derelict site on the edge of Rugeley is set to take a step towards a new future.

Persimmon Homes West Midlands has completed the purchase of land at the former Rugeley Power Station from Vistry, securing a major brownfield site with the potential to deliver new homes in a highly sustainable location.

The site sits close to existing neighbourhoods and transport links, making use of previously developed land. Its redevelopment would mark a significant change for an area that has stood unused since the power station closed.

The land purchase provides the platform for plans for 273 new homes, all for private sale, with a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties designed to meet modern living standards.

As a brownfield site, redevelopment will bring environmental improvements by reusing land that has already been built on. Persimmon Homes West Midlands will contribute £1.6 million in Community Infrastructure Levy funding to support local services and infrastructure.

With the land transaction now complete, Persimmon Homes will begin to progress plans for the site through the planning process.
