Housebuilder donates towards Bridgend forest school

Wales’ largest housebuilder has donated £1,000 to Llangynwyd Primary School’s project to deliver an outdoor learning space for local children.

Persimmon Homes West Wales marked the donation alongside the school and pupils as part of its Community Champions programme which sees £50,000 donated to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year. Other recent local winners of Community Champions funding includes Llangynwyd Rangers FC, Coity Chiefs Girls, and Coity Community Council.

Persimmon Homes West Wales, which recently secured its fifth consecutive five-star rating from accreditation body, the Home Builders Federation, has an application to bring 133 new, zero carbon-ready homes to land near the school in Llangynywyd.

The plans also include the delivery of play areas, active travel improvements, and housing association properties alongside environmental and ecological enhancements.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes West Wales Sales Director Sharon Bouhali, said:

“Persimmon has a strong record of supporting schools across West Wales – as well as organisations in the Bridgend County borough – and we were delighted to once again be doing so through this donation to Llangynwyd Primary School.

“With plans afoot to bring a sustainable new community of zero carbon-ready homes to Llangynwyd, it is imperative that Persimmon supports local public services, especially education, not only as part of our commitment to our customers but to leave a positive and lasting legacy for those in the area where we build.”

Kelly Kehoe, Headteacher at Llangynwyd Primary School, added:

“We are a highly inclusive school that takes great pride in ensuring every child fulfils their potential. Our aim is for pupils to leave us as well-rounded, thoughtful individuals who embody strong values and have high aspirations for their future. Our dedicated staff are committed to maintaining high standards and expectations in all that we do.

“That’s why this generous donation from Persimmon will be such a help as we pursue our ambition to deliver a forest school for our pupils, so they can have a hands-on education, making use of the beautiful outdoors as they learn.
