Local Football Club Scores with £3,000 donation

A York grass-roots football club is celebrating after netting a donation from our Yorkshire region.

Fulford Football Club has been awarded £3,000 after applying to a funding initiative run by us.  

Luke Charters, MP for York Outer was recently on hand to formally present a cheque to the club’s Secretary alongside representatives from Persimmon.  

The donation, which has been put towards new football kits, comes after the club applied to our Community Champions scheme, which provides funding to local charities, schools, sports clubs and community groups looking for funding.  

Graham Souter, Fulford Football Club Secretary, said: “This £3,000 will help pay for the junior team shirts for the next two seasons, allowing the club to provide around 350 shirts to its junior membership. 

"Persimmon’s continued support of the local football club is very much welcomed and appreciated.” 

Luke Charters MP said: "It was brilliant to meet Graham and hear more about everything Fulford Football Club does for the local community. 

"Football is about far more than just the 90 minutes on the pitch. Clubs like Fulford bring people together, give players of all ages somewhere to belong and inspire the next generation. 

“I want to pay particular tribute to Graham and all the other volunteers who give up their evenings and weekends to keep the club going. Their hard work makes all of this possible.” 

Graham Whiteford, Persimmon Homes Yorkshire Planning Director said: "It was a pleasure to host Graham and Luke at our Germany Beck site and hear about the work Fulford FC is doing in the community.  

"We are proud to support them and we hope this donation continues to help the club."
