Caerphilly Tennis Club has received a £1,500 donation from Persimmon Homes East Wales through the Community Champions programme.

The club will use the funding to support its growth plans which include substantial upgrades to its courts and facilities.

Caerphilly Tennis Club provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport, offering coaching, social play and competitive opportunities for juniors, adults and disability players. The multi award-winning club, based at Virginia Park, serves communities from across Caerphilly County Borough and further afield with a range of programmes designed to encourage participation and make tennis accessible to everyone.

The donation forms part of Persimmon’s Community Champions programme, which supports charities, sports clubs, and voluntary organisations in the communities where it operates.

Persimmon East Wales has recently commenced construction at Pen y Castell, its new development at Virginia Park in Caerphilly. The brownfield regeneration scheme will deliver 174 one- to four-bedroom homes, with nearly 45 per cent designated as Affordable Housing through a partnership with a local Registered Social Landlord.

The development will also provide substantial community benefits, including contributions towards local infrastructure, education, leisure and recreation, alongside a Community Infrastructure Levy payment of approximately £550,000.

Three and four-bed homes are for sale now at Pen y Castell from £359,995.

Victoria Williams, Sales Director, at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said:

“Caerphilly Tennis Club makes an important contribution to the local community by helping people of all ages and abilities to get active and enjoy the sport.

“We are pleased to support the club through our Community Champions programme, and we look forward to seeing the benefit this funding brings to its members and the wider community.

“Supporting local organisations is an important part of our commitment to the communities in which we build. We're delighted to be bringing that commitment to Caerphilly through our new Pen y Castell development at Virginia Park, where work is now underway on 174 new homes, including a significant proportion of affordable housing for local people.”

Jonathan Morgan, Head Coach at Caerphilly Tennis Club added:

“Thank you to Persimmon Homes East Wales for supporting CTC with this donation. It’s fantastic to have the support of a prominent local business.

“This donation will help fund our ambitious facility development plans, which once complete will secure the Club’s long term future - giving us quality courts, improved accessibility and  enhanced areas around the site - and enable even more people to enjoy tennis in the safe, welcoming and inclusive environment we have nurtured.”
