Local grassroots football club scores community donation in Flitwick

Persimmon Homes Midlands has donated £3,000 to Flitwick Town Football Club through its Community Champions scheme.

The donation will help meet essential costs of running the football club, from facility hire, equipment and match officials to league affiliations and insurance. Most importantly, the funding will help the club continue to provide high-quality football opportunities for men in Flitwick and the surrounding areas.

Persimmon Homes’ donation reflects its commitment to supporting the communities where it builds. In Flitwick, the housebuilder will be delivering its Saxon Woods development, creating 170 new homes for local people.

The donation was formally presented to Flitwick Town Football Club by Councillor John Roberts, Mayor of Flitwick, and David Ablett, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Midlands.

Councillor John Roberts, Flitwick Town Mayor, commented:

“I am delighted to hear that Flitwick Town Football Club has been awarded a £3,000 Community Champions award from Persimmon Homes for this wonderful volunteer led community club.
They play a vital role in providing physical activity and sports opportunities for the Town, and in allowing more and more local people to benefit from getting involved in grassroots Football, so the award will be particularly useful in helping with increasing costs.”

Martin Byrne, Chairman of Flitwick Town Football Club, added:

“We are delighted to receive £3,000 from Persimmon Homes through its Community Champions scheme. For a volunteer-led grassroots club like ours, this funding will make a real difference, helping us keep football affordable, accessible and sustainable for our players.

With Flitwick growing rapidly, organisations like our club play an increasingly important role in bringing people together, supporting physical and mental wellbeing and creating a strong sense of community. This funding will have a genuine impact on our players and the wider Flitwick community.”

David Ablett, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Midlands, commented:

“We are thrilled to support Flitwick Town Football Club with a £3,000 donation through our Community Champions scheme, helping the club continue providing high-quality football opportunities.

As we prepare to deliver our Saxon Woods development, we want to support the wider Flitwick community and make a positive contribution that extends beyond the homes we build. We hope this funding will help the club continue providing opportunities for local people for many years to come, creating a lasting benefit for the community.”
