Persimmon donation for South Gloucestershire school
09 October 2026
Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has donated £1,000 to Friends of Manorbrook Primary School in Thornbury as part of its Community Champions programme.
The cheque was presented to the Headteacher, Paul Medlicott, at the school in September. The funds will be put towards its Outdoor Learning and Play project, which would increase and improve the time pupils spend outside.
The funding will be used to purchase resources to add variety and creativity to times of play. It will enable the children to set up their own imaginative play, such as a shop or an office or be able to move, dance or design during lunch times.
Persimmon’s Community Champions programme sees £700,000 spent each year on good causes and much-valued organisation across Britain each year. Recent local recipients include Kingswood Village Ball, Downend Men's Shed, Nelson Trust, and Kingswood Defib Awareness Group.
The Severn Valley business has live and forthcoming sites across South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire with homes for sale at Beaufort Park in Cribbs Causeway, two plots remaining at Cloverlea Gardens near Wootton-under-Edge, and a site soon to open in Cam.
Persimmon Homes Severn Valley Sales Director Carly Spear said:
“As a major developer bringing much-needed new homes to Gloucestershire, we feel it’s important to Persimmon to support local schools in the county.
“So, when Friends of Manorbrook Primary School got in touch, it felt like a great cause to support as we wanted to contribute to upgrading and expanding the outdoor facilities for pupils at the school.
“We wish the children, teachers, and staff at the school the very best for the new term.”
Kathryn Leeming, Chair of Friends of Manorbrook, added:
“I am delighted that Friends of Manorbrook were successful in our application for Persimmon’s Community Champions fund. This money will be a huge help in our plans to increase and improve outdoor play and learning at the school.”
Paul Medlicott, Headteacher at Manorbrook Primary School, commented
“We believe that every child deserves the very best education, one that inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and supports each learner to reach their full potential.
“We know that children learn best when they feel happy, supported, and motivated, while our dedicated staff work hard to create engaging learning experiences, while also placing great importance on wellbeing, kindness, and respect.
“So, we are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for this donation that will help us achieve this through funding our Outdoor Play and Learning project.”
