Persimmon Homes Severn donation for Gloucestershire youth boxing club
04 December 2025
A Tewkesbury-based boxing club run by an English super welterweight champion boxer has secured funding from a local developer.
As part of its Community Champions scheme, Persimmon Homes Severn Valley – the developer behind the town’s Fiddington Fields development – has donated £1,000 to Adam Harper’s Boxing Clever programme.
Established in 2021, the year after Adam’s final fight, the initiative sees local children from a variety of backgrounds get the chance to hone their boxing skills with a former boxing champion.
Currently, around 50 young people from Tewkesbury and near benefit from this experience each week. The sessions are free as part of Adam’s determination to ensure cost is not a barrier for participation.
Persimmon’s donation will go towards new equipment for its fledgling talent.
Persimmon, an accredited five-star developer, recently released the second phase of its popular Fiddington Fields development in Tewkesbury. The new phase will feature a range of high-quality two, three, and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £285,000.
Homes from the first phase are still available, with three and four-bedroom properties starting from £300,000. The development continues to attract strong interest thanks to its desirable location, modern designs, and reputation for quality construction.
Persimmon donates £700,00 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year as part of its Community Champions programme. Recent local recipients include Tewkesbury Food Bank, Tewkesbury Town Colts FC, and the Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes Severn Valley Sales Director Carly Spear, said:
“Our Community Champions programme is all about supporting initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives and provide a huge benefit for people in the local area.
“This is not just because it will be great for our customers, but the future residents on the sites we build as well as those who already live in the community.
“Adam’s done a great job in establishing Boxing Clever and knowing it has helped hundreds of young people in its short time of operating gives us confidence that this donation will go a long way in maintaining this great offer for local kids.”
Adam Harper, founder of Boxing Clever, added:
“Boxing is not just a sport, but a vehicle to prevent anti-social behaviour, improve mental and physical health, and give young people some direction in life.
“That’s why I started Boxing Clever, and I’m delighted Persimmon can also see the value in supporting this important venture for the benefit of so many young people in Tewkesbury.
“This funding will help us continue to do what we do and maintain the no-cost element for this opportunity for those who use the club which, for some, provides a chance to turn their life around – so thank you to Persimmon for their help.”
