Persimmon partners with charity to feed families during school holidays

We've partnered with a community charity to make sure children have access to a morning meal during the school holidays.

We've partnered with Justice Prince CIC, a charity in Longbenton, to create the Persimmon Young Builders Breakfast Club.

Operating during the October half-term, a donation from Persimmon means Justice Prince will be able to provide 800 free, healthy breakfasts to children and families experiencing food poverty.

Justice Prince were awarded the £3,000 funding after applying to our Community Champions initiative.

Julie Cruddas, Chief Officer of Justice Prince CIC, said: “Justice Prince CIC are delighted to be working in partnership with Persimmon Homes to launch a brand new initiative called Persimmon Young Builders Breakfast Club – Building Healthy Futures One Breakfast at a Time. 

“Starting in October school holiday time, 800 free healthy breakfasts will be given to children and families experiencing food poverty as a result of Persimmon's Community Champions Awards Scheme.  

“The project will target families living within Longbenton's most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, where we already support many households through our Social Supermarket and Food Pantry. Children will enjoy a nutritious breakfast while learning about healthy eating.  

“We know from almost 20 years of community work that many parents struggle to feed their children, especially during school holidays, often going without food themselves so their children can eat. 

“The project will promote healthy lifestyles, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and environmental awareness in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. Thanks to Persimmon Homes for changing lives and making a difference in our Longbenton Community."
