Persimmon supports creation of Memorial Garden in Cardiff

20 March 2026

Persimmon Homes has donated £2,000 to help support plans for a new Memorial Garden in Cardiff, providing a peaceful space for people grieving the loss of much-loved pets and family members.

The garden, being developed with the support of Cardiff Council and the Lord Mayor’s nominated charities – Forget-Me-Not Chorus and the Rescue Hotel for Dogs – will offer a quiet place for reflection and remembrance.

Persimmon’s contribution will help give the project an important early boost as partners work together to bring the memorial space forward for the community.

Commenting, Victoria Williams, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said:

“At Persimmon we are proud to support the communities in which we build, and we are pleased to contribute towards this thoughtful project for Cardiff.

“The memorial garden will provide a peaceful place where people can reflect and remember much-loved pets and family members, and we are delighted to help support its creation for local people.”

Councillor Norma Mackie, Cardiff Council’s Cabinet Member for Waste, Street Scene and Environmental Services, said:

“This memorial garden is an important project for the Council which recognises the strong bond between people and their pets. The loss of a pet leaves a deep and lasting sense of grief. This memorial garden will offer a quiet, beautiful space where people can remember and find comfort.”

Councillor Adrian Robson, the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, added:

“Pets are cherished members of our families and their loss can be deeply felt.

“This memorial garden will offer a quiet space where people can sit and remember their loved ones. I am incredibly grateful to Cardiff Council, our partners and early supporters such as Persimmon Homes East Wales for helping us take the first steps towards creating a place that will mean so much to so many.”

Persimmon’s Community Champions programme sees £50,000 awarded to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year, with recent local recipients including Radyr Rangers Football Festival, Creigiau Primary School, and the MND Association Cardiff & Vale.

Persimmon has high-quality homes for sale across South Wales including at The Parish in northwest Cardiff, where three and four-bed homes are currently for sale from £334,995. Sister company Charles Church also has an outlet here, Glan y Coed, with four and five-bed properties available from £544,995.

The Lord Mayor’s charities are now appealing to businesses and individuals to support the project through donations. All contributions will go directly towards developing the memorial garden, ensuring it becomes a welcoming and beautifully cared for space for all.
