Primary school able to carry out ‘major renovation’ for community after donation

A primary school are celebrating after receiving a donation which means they can carry out a ‘major renovation’

Norton Primary Academy, in Stockton-on-Tees, received a £3,000 donation from us after applying to our Community Champions initiative.

The school say the donation will go towards transforming its outdoor area, that will be enjoyed by both the school and the wider community.

Funds will go towards filling the area with plants, flowers and items to help encourage outdoor education.

Stockton-on-Tees Deputy Mayor Marilyn Surtees was recently on-hand to present the cheque to the school, along with representatives from Persimmon. 

Michelle Randal-Harris, Norton Primary Academy Principal, said: “We are so very grateful to Persimmon Homes for the very kind donation of £3,000. 

“This money will mean we are able to complete the major renovation of the community and school garden project we have been working on over the last few years. 

“Your kindness means we can fill the space with lots of wonderful wildlife plants that will be a fantastic learning experience for our children but also enhance the space for the whole community.”

Cllr Surtees said: “It was a pleasure to visit the Norton School with Persimmon Homes to see the school receive their cheque, which will help towards the building of their new community garden.

Persimmon Teesside Technical Director, Kyle Dobson, said: “We are proud to support Norton Primary Academy in creating an outdoor space that all the community can enjoy.

“We hope this donation goes far in supporting the school’s plans and we look forward to seeing the garden when complete.”
