South West developer donates £1,000 to local racing prodigy

Persimmon Homes has donated £1,000 to a 12-year-old racing talent in Somerset.

Its South West business presented the cheque to Chard local Lucas Carter as part of its Community Champions programme, with the funds going towards facilitating his journey for karting greatness.

Lucas recently secured a first-place finish at the Cadet Group B class during the Club100 Academy 2 Lightweight event at Whilton Mill this February, setting the fastest lap time of 1:03.977. 

The Club100 series, in which Lucas secured victory, is renowned as offering the “highest level of ‘Arrive and Drive’ 2 stroke karting in Europe” and is widely regarded as the toughest and most respected rental karting series in the UK.  

Persimmon Homes donates £700,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain every year as part of its Community Champions scheme. Recent local recipients include Children’s Hospice South West, South West Blood Bikes, and Ilminster Town Council. 

The accredited five-star builder is currently progressing its planning application to bring 237 high-quality, new homes to the south of Chard.

Lucas added:

I look forward to going as far as my talent takes me while doing something I love, especially when competing among friends.”
