Water sports club rides wave of support
08 April 2026
A growing Hinckley club is making a splash as more people take to the water.
Hinckley Water Activities Club has seen a surge in members over the past year, welcoming people of all ages and abilities to its volunteer-run sessions.
Now the club has been awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes North Midlands through its Community Champions initiative.
The funding will help the club invest in additional boats and essential equipment, allowing it to meet rising demand while keeping costs low for members. It will also help reduce waiting times for sessions and ensure high standards of safety and coaching are maintained.
Based on its own private lake, the club offers activities including kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing, giving members the chance to learn new skills, stay active and enjoy the outdoors in an inclusive setting.
Andrew Heritage from Hinckley Water Activities Club said: “Hinckley Water Activities Club is incredibly grateful for this generous support through the Community Champions scheme. This donation will make a real difference in helping us continue to provide safe, accessible and enjoyable water activities for our local community.”
Kevin Pryor, Technical Director, for Persimmon Homes North Midlands said: “We’re delighted to support Hinckley Water Activities Club and the fantastic work they do in the community. Clubs like this provide inclusive opportunities for people to stay active and try something new, and we’re proud that our Community Champions funding can help them continue to grow.”
