Finding the pawfect new home in an ideal location
When greyhound Bob and his humans started searching for a new home for a family member, it led to finding the perfect new home for themselves, at our Castleton Grange development in Eye.
Hello! I'm Bob, and I'm a retired greyhound.
In case you're wondering, after retiring I needed a new interest, so I took typing classes. As my mum said, it's good to get your thoughts down on paper. I'm planning a book next. Anyway, I digress.
My human parents 9who are also retired) and I were happily living in Palgrave, Suffolk, when a change in family circumstances meant we started looking for a property for my grandma to downsize to, somewhere near us.
We identified a new housing development in Eye, called Castleton Grange.
Pawsome new build benefits
Persimmon were the builders and Dad had bought and lived in one of their new builds before, so knew they made good homes.
Whilst enquiring about bungalows for Grandma, Mum and Dad looked around the Barnwood showhome and instantly loved it. The layout was perfect for us!
Mum particularly loved the kitchen/dining room, great for socialising when you have friends, family and grandchildren round.
The prospect of cheaper heating bills and far less maintenance than our hold house put a big smile on Dad's face.
I identified a cosy corner of the living room for me, and loads of room for my four beds around the house. I do love a sleep!
Part Exchange: the ultimutt stress-free move
We decided the Persimmon option of Part Exchange woked for us. The sales team arranged local estate agents to value our property and made a very competitive and fair offer to buy and market it.
We were therefore able to upgrade and include Finishing Touches that complemented and personalised out home.
The sales advisor Steph was very helpful and guided us every step of the way, and when our new build was complete we moved in.
There were no concerns of chains breaking down, and it was a completely stress-free way of achieving our dream home.
All the Persimmon staff since have been helpful and friendly including Dave the Site Manager, and the snag list was dealt with efficiently and without fuss.
Tracy from the Customer Care team has made regular contact with us over the last 8 months to ensure we are happy with everything.
The ideal setting for a furever home
We all love our new home on the very outskirts of Eye. We have open space just a 10-minute walk away, along with the amenities in the town centre.
These include: two supermarkets, a chocolatier gift shop and coffee shop, two cafes, a butchers, hairdressers, fabric shop, music venues, pub, handyman shop, library, fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, community centre, hospital, GP surgery, primary school, a highly rated secondary school and castle ruins on a hill!
There's a great monthly Eye Magazine detailing clubs and events to join in with and volunteering activities, if mum and dad get time.
We're also around 25 miles from Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich. Diss is a few miles away, and we're less than an hour away from the coast at Southwold or Felixstowe.
Fairy-tail ending
I have made lots of doggy friends on the array of walks here. The old airfield that's adjacent to us, the town moors, open fields all around and the lovely old streets of the town with their many fascinating old buildings.
We have lovely new neighbours (the humans aren't bad either!). What's not to love? We are all very happy here.
Just off for a walk now with Mum and Dad.
Cheerio, Bob.
We wish Bob and his humans all the very best in their new home at Castleton Grange!
