Living in Chatteris

Local life

Chatteris may be small but it's perfectly formed! There are primary schools for your youngest children, a secondary school for your teenagers, local shops, sports clubs and social clubs. The larger town of March is nearby for a full range of independent shops and national brands and for a day out shopping with friends, you can't beat Cambridge for its open-air market, boutiques, department stores and vibrant atmosphere.

Getting around

The train station at March – just 8 miles away – connects commuters with the East Coast main line. You can be in Cambridge, via Ely, in about half an hour. There are convenient and direct road routes if you travel by car. The A141 runs through the town and joins the A10 at Ely and the A1M at Huntingdon, and there are regular bus services to these, and other, local towns.

Landscapes and landmarks

There are some amazing landmarks to go hand in hand with the landscape. Ely Cathedral stands out from the crowd, Cambridge is packed with the architecture and history of its university colleges and Newmarket’s race course is world-famous. Chatteris itself is as peaceful as the countryside around it, making it a good choice for family life and leisure years. It’s as well-connected for work trips as it is for day trips whether that be for a taste of city life or a trip across the border to the stunning North Norfolk coast.
