Ely

The historic city of Ely is the pride of the Fens. Its cathedral towers about the famous flat landscape in this part of East England. With an incredible history, Ely is a great city for today too. It's on the A10 route from London to King's Lynn. It's on the Fenline railway line, connecting with Norwich, Cambridge, Peterborough and Ipswich, and of course London King's Cross.

The city centre is packed with independent shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as many national brands. The River Great Ouse, the Jubilee Gardens and the Cathedral Quarter itself are all highlights of this fascinating city. It's a great place to have near your new home.

The city

It's a bonus to live near a famous cathedral city. Local businesses, shops and services step up to the needs of the visitor economy and that's good for residents. Ely has long been a tourist destination and that means a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Living alongside history also means a heritage of excellent education, culture and key links to other key towns and cities.

The countryside

The Fens, or Fenland is this area is also called, stretches across the flat landscape and continues to support a strong agricultural history. With all the waterways, even fishing has played a part. Eels may not be to your taste but eel fishing has been famous too. Walking or cycling along the ancient drovers' trails is one of the best ways to take in this unique and unspoilt countryside.
