Wallyford

Would you like to live in a little town that’s a village at heart, just 7 miles from Scotland’s great capital? Wallyford fits the bill for your new home. This popular commuting village is shoulder to shoulder with the town of Musselburgh, close to the shores of the Firth of Forth as it meets the sea. They are both bypassed by the A1, taking a step back from Scotland’s main east coast route to Edinburgh, whilst having a fantastic direct route into the city on the doorstep.

Living here

This is a great location for a growing family, with city, countryside and coast all a stone’s throw away. Wallyford has its own local convenience stores and Musselburgh has the larger supermarkets. Musselburgh sports complex will keep you all fit and entertained, with a huge range of facilities, including a swimming pool and climbing wall. If you’re a golfer, you’ll be in your element!

Getting around

The A1 is right there whether you are heading into the city or away from it.  Wallyford has a train station too so that’s a very convenient option, with ScotsRail services getting you into Edinburgh Waverley Station in just 12 minutes. The A68 is the main route south to Northumberland, via Jedburgh, and the A7 takes you down to Carlisle. If you need to bypass Edinburgh, the A720 connects you with the M8 for Glasgow or the M90 for the Forth road bridge.

Going to school

There’s a new primary/nursery school in Wallyford, and Musselburgh has additional options for both primary and secondary school education, including a grammar school.

Close to the capital

With Edinburgh just 7 miles away, you’ve got all the possibilities for work and pleasure at your fingertips. Whatever your interests, you’ve got plenty of choice, from history and culture, to shopping and eating out with friends and family, or just some time on your own.

Close to the sea

The coast of East Lothian comes up trumps too, with golf courses, seaside towns like North Berwick and Dunbar and plenty of unspoilt beaches along the way.
