East Lothian
Looking for a new home in East Lothian?
East Lothian stands guard at the mouth of the Firth of Forth, shoulder to shoulder with Edinburgh. It’s in a great location, with a rugged coastline, friendly towns, and lovely countryside. It certainly ticks all the boxes as the setting for a new home.
Edinburgh doesn’t need to explain itself. It’s a great neighbour to have if you live in East Lothian. Whether you go there for work, culture or shopping, it has all the fantastic benefits of a historic capital city. In keeping with Scotland’s reputation, and complementing Edinburgh’s financial and business strengths, East Lothian has a thriving economy around the world of golf. It’s not called Scotland’s Golf Coast for nothing. With Midlothian to the south-west and the Scottish Borders to the south, it’s easy to get out into the gentle countryside too, before crossing the border into Northumberland.
Getting yourself further afield is easy too. The A1 cuts right through the county from Edinburgh, to Dunbar, where it follows the coast to Berwick-upon-Tweed and Newcastle. The A68 is the inland route from Musselburgh, the county’s largest town, via Jedburgh and on to Newcastle.
