Oswaldtwistle
Oswaldtwistle has a rich cultural and industrial heritage. It was the birthplace of James Hargreaves who invented the Spinning Jenny - and home to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal that was responsible for much of the area’s textile trading prosperity. Today, this Pennine Waterway is perfect for walking, cycling and watching the narrowboats drift by.
Industrial landmark, the Mill now hosts an award-winning shopping village and craft market. As well as big brand shopping, it has a bustling high street with plenty of local businesses, a butcher's, takeaways, a pizza parlour, a few pubs and a garden centre.
