Worcester is a historic cathedral city surrounded by some of the West Midlands’ most beautiful countryside, yet just 35 miles from the great city of Birmingham. It’s a self-contained city, in a location that’s easy to get to and from, with a lovely old centre alongside the River Severn, and some very popular residential suburbs. All in all, it’s a great place for your new home and for all the family. People often put ‘Midlands’ and ‘Urban’ together, but you’ll soon find out that’s not the case.

Living in Worcester
We think you’ll have it all here. A nice sized city with all the amenities you’ll want, the famous county cricket club to support, the Races to dress up for, the River Severn to stroll along, the beautiful Malvern Hills on the doorstep, and big city shopping in Birmingham.
Worcester is literally just off the M5, so it’s a great base if you need to commute into Bromsgrove, Redditch, and Birmingham to the north, or Bristol to the south. You can join the M40 at Redditch for an alternative to the M4 for London. It’s a meeting point for the county’s main A roads linking it to Kidderminster, Hereford, Leominster, and Ledbury. You can get to Birmingham International Airport by car in about 50 minutes and there’s a bus service too, on average taking about an hour and a half.
Going to school
There are a number of primary schools spread across the city so that all the residential areas are well served. Regency High, Nunnery Wood High and Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College are some of the state secondary schools, and there are independent school options here too.
Browsing in the historic centre near the cathedral, meeting friends in the riverside cafés, taking the kids to let off steam in the Worcester Woods Country Park, there’s plenty to keep everyone happy. Out and about the Malvern Hills are beautiful, with fantastic walking and panoramic views from the top. It’s a well-deserved Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For rainy days, Worcester Bowl is a great family venue and Vertical Limit is a bouldering and wall climbing activity centre. The Worcester Golf and Country Club is on the western side of the city.
