Local facilities
It’s great to have Leeds just up the road for a day out, for city centre shopping, for a mainline station, and for nightlife, but Garforth has plenty to offer too. To add to the local shops and supermarkets the town has the bonus of a Tesco Superstore. There are two train stations – Garforth and East Garforth – with services into Leeds city centre taking just 15 minutes. There are primary schools, a secondary school with a sixth form, and a Performing Arts College.
Sport and leisure
Whether you are a sportsman or a spectator, Garforth will keep you on your toes with football clubs, rugby clubs, cricket clubs and a golf course. There’s a leisure centre close to the town centre, and for everything in one place, you can visit The Springs shopping centre on the outskirts of Leeds - a new retail destination that includes places to eat out, a gym, and a cinema. For something less energetic, Roundhay Park is the next best thing to a day out in the countryside.
Getting around
Garforth sits in a triangle, created by the M1, A1(M) and A63 Selby Road. Whichever direction you need to head in, this is a great starting point. The M1 and A1(M) merge to the northeast of Garforth, the M1 and the M62 intersect to the southwest, and the A63 joins the Leeds ring road, the A6120. With two local stations, train travel is a great option for commuters and from Leeds, the journey time to London Kings Cross is around two and a quarter hours.
