£25,000 Donation Gives Pupils a Say in School Projects
01 May 2026
Pupils at The Thomas Adams School are set to benefit from a £25,000 donation.
Persimmon Homes West Midlands made the donation to The Thomas Adams School and part of the funding will be allocated by the students themselves, with plans including new shelters and improvements to outdoor spaces.
The donation comes as Persimmon continues work on its Eckford Vale development, just across from the school. The housebuilder has already worked with staff to resurface the bus drop off area and the school car park, and resolve historic drainage issues, making access safer for students.
The handover was attended by Lee Perry, Ash Adams from Persimmon West Midlands, Head Teacher Mark Cooper, and Councillor Alan Holford, Ward Councillor for Wem.
Lee Perry, Technical Director at Persimmon West Midlands, said: “We’re proud to support The Thomas Adams School. Giving pupils the chance to direct the funding themselves allows them to create a space they enjoy and feel proud of. We’re committed to leaving a positive impact in the communities we operate and will continue to work closely together with The Thomas Adams School as we continue work on our Eckford Vale development.”
Head Teacher Mark Cooper added: “This donation is an incredible opportunity for our pupils. Being able to influence how funds are spent encourages responsibility and creativity, and we’re excited to see the projects take shape.”
Ward Councillor Alan Holford, Shropshire Council said: “It’s great to have this contribution from Persimmon Homes go towards improving educational opportunities for children local to the development.”
Persimmon Homes remains committed to building homes and supporting community initiatives across the West Midlands, ensuring developments are integrated and beneficial to local people.
