It’s in the Bag

South West region has given its backing to a testicular cancer charity based in the region.

Persimmon Homes has donated £1,000 to It’s in the Bag as part of its Community Champions programme which sees £700,000 go to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year.

The Bristol-based, volunteer-led charity’s support covers information, emotional reassurance, practical help, and financial assistance, so men and families have what they need at diagnosis, during treatment, and as they adjust afterwards.

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15 to 45. Over 2,400 men are diagnosed each year in the UK, but with a cure rate of over 96%, early detection makes a huge difference and often means less treatment.

It’s in the Bag encourages men aged 15 and older to self-check every month and to talk to their GP immediately if they discover anything unusual.

Other recent Community Champions donations in the South West include Force Cancer Charity, Cranbrook Education Campus, YMCA South Devon, Newcourt Community Centre in Exeter, and Herne View CofE Primary School in Ilminster.

South West region at Persimmon Homes has high-quality homes for sale on developments across the region including Barnstaple, Cranbrook, Cullompton, Dawlish, Exeter, Newton Abbot, Paignton, and Taunton.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes South West’s sales director, Stacey Harris, said:

“We're delighted to support It's in the Bag through our Community Champions programme and help the charity continue its vital work across the South West.

"A testicular cancer diagnosis can have a significant impact on individuals and their families, and the charity provides invaluable support, guidance, and reassurance during what can be a very challenging time.

"As a business, we're committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we build, and we're proud that this donation will help ensure more people can access the services and assistance they need."

Richard Bullard – Trustee and Awareness Lead for It’s in the Bag – added:

“We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon for this generous donation and for recognising the importance of the support we provide. As a volunteer-led charity, contributions like this make a real difference and help us continue delivering practical, emotional, and financial support to men affected by testicular cancer, as well as their families.

"Early diagnosis saves lives, so alongside supporting people through treatment and recovery, we remain committed to raising awareness of testicular cancer and encouraging more men to check themselves regularly."
