Hanham Athletic FC

Hanham Athletic FC’s under elevens side is the latest recipient of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions fund.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley region presented the £1,000 to players at their training facilities at King’s Oak Academy in Kingswood. The money will go towards new clothing and equipment for the young players.

Established in 1896, the club is one of Bristol’s oldest and currently plays in the Gloucestershire County League.

Persimmon has an application to build up 200 new, zero carbon-ready homes only five miles away in Keynsham. The plans include a significant proportion of properties for a housing association as well as green space, an equipped playground, and an orchard.

Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme sees £700,000 spent each year on good causes and much-valued organisations across Britian. Recent local recipients include Bristol Baby Bank Network, Bristol Normandy Veterans, Jessie May Children's Hospice at Home, and South West Blood Bikes.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes Severn Valley’s sales director, Carly Spear, said:

“We’re very happy to be supporting Hanham Athletic with this donation for new clothing and equipment for their Under Elevens side.

“Persimmon has had nearby developments in the past, with others in Keynsham coming up, and this donation is about leaving a positive and lasting legacy for those residents.

“We wish the club, especially the Under Elevens, all the best for the rest of the season.”

Hanham Athletic FC Chairman, Chris Strawford, added:

“I would like to express our sincere thanks for to Persimmon for their generous donation. Their support will make a meaningful difference to our Under Elevens, helping us provide new clothing and equipment that ensure our young players can continue to enjoy the game in a safe, positive, and well-resourced environment.

“As a club with a long history in Bristol’s grassroots football community, we truly appreciate organisations like Persimmon that invest in local groups and help nurture the next generation. Their commitment to creating a lasting legacy for local residents is recognised and valued by all of us.”
