Children’s Charity receives £56,000 from local home builder

06 November 2025

Persimmon Homes marks another year of fundraising for CHAS, as staff continue a three-year commitment to supporting children with life-limiting conditions across Scotland.

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) has received £56,000 from Persimmon Homes North Scotland, following a successful year of fundraising by staff, sub-contractors, and partners across Scotland.

The donation was presented at Rachel House in Kinross — one of only two children’s hospices in Scotland — marking the latest milestone in Persimmon’s valued partnership with CHAS.

Staff at Persimmon Homes have chosen CHAS as their charity of the year for three years running. Throughout the year, employees have organised a variety of fundraising events including charity balls, walks, dress-down days, and golf tournaments. The highlight of the 2025 fundraising calendar was a glitz-and-glam black-tie charity ball in Glasgow, hosted by STV’s John MacKay.

Rachel House provides vital respite, care, and end-of-life support for children, as well as emotional and wellbeing assistance for families who rely on its services.

James MacKay, Managing Director of Persimmon North Scotland, said:

“CHAS is a charity that touches so many lives, and we are incredibly proud to support the amazing work they do.

“Our teams have worked tirelessly over the past year to fundraise, and presenting the cheque at Rachel House was a real highlight. We know this donation will make a tangible difference to families across Scotland.”

Rami Okasha, CHAS Chief Executive, said:

“This is an amazing amount to raise and we are so grateful to everyone at Persimmon Homes North Scotland.

“Every week, three children in Scotland die from a life-shortening illness. No one should face the death of their child alone. This generous support ensures CHAS nurses, doctors, and specialists are there when parents learn the devastating news that their child is seriously ill and may die young. It helps support families live well for whatever time they have and helps provide the best possible end-of-life care.”

The donation forms part of Persimmon’s wider commitment to community investment across Scotland — from supporting local charities and schools to providing good-quality jobs and apprenticeships and building affordable homes for local people.
