Community donation strengthens life-saving services across Northamptonshire
15 June 2026
South Northants Community Responders have received a £5,000 donation from our Midlands region through our Community Champions scheme, helping the charity to continue providing life-saving emergency care across South and West Northamptonshire.
The funding will contribute towards the purchase of a vital response vehicle.
The donation was officially presented to volunteers from South Northants Community Responders at Persimmon Homes Midlands’ Harlestone Grange development in Northampton by Managing Director David Ablett and Sales Director Claire Dearsley, alongside Councillor Fiona Baker, Chairman of West Northamptonshire Council.
The charity is made up entirely of volunteers, who gave more than 8,650 hours of their time in 2025 and attended 2,079 patient incidents, providing immediate emergency care, often before an ambulance arrives.
Kevin Perryman, Chair of Trustees, and Responder at South Northants Community Responders said “South Northants Community Responders are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous donation towards our responder vehicle.
This vehicle will help to raise the profile of SNCR within the community as we respond to medical emergencies allocated to us by East Midlands Ambulance Service. It will also support the training of new responders and the ongoing development of skills and knowledge across our team.”
Councillor Fiona Baker, Chairman of West Northamptonshire Council, commented "I am delighted to see Persimmon Homes supporting local causes with this £5,000 donation to South Northants Community Responders. The charity's incredible volunteers give thousands of hours of their time each year to help people in their greatest moments of need. This funding will play an important role in strengthening the critical services that our residents rely upon every day.”
David Ablett, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Midlands added "We are proud to support South Northants Community Responders through our Community Champions scheme. The charity's volunteers provide a vital service, delivering immediate care and making a real difference across local communities.”
